Teto Preto

The band Teto Preto made their debut during the Brazilian coup d’etat in 2016, criticizing the political situation and living conditions of black and queer communities. Their song Gasolina turned out to be a soundtrack for those turbulent times and led to the release of their debut album Pedra Preta last year, blending African, Brazilian and electronic inspirations to speak about inequality in their homeland. It was released by Mamba Negra, a collective founded by Teto Preto’s frontwoman Angela Carneosso and Cashu. They not only release new music but also put on vibrant parties, leading the way for underprivileged youth.

Teto Preto is co-presented with Nuits sonores.
